Why “Garrison”?

In Noah Webster’s 1828 dictionary, a garrison is not only troops in a fortress — it is also “the state of being placed in a fortification for its defense.” Christians are called soldiers of Christ: we train inside the walls (knowing and guarding the truth) and prepare to go out (serving, teaching, and encouraging others).

“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.”

— 2 Timothy 2:3 (KJV)

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

— Ephesians 6:10–11 (KJV)

Rooted in the Word

Study is the foundation — daily habits, your own notes, and clear plans that keep you coming back to Scripture.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein.”

— Joshua 1:8 (KJV)

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

— Psalm 119:105 (KJV)

“And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.”

— Acts 20:32 (KJV)
